How electrostatic oscillation therapy works
The treatment penetrates up to 8 cm beneath the skin’s surface, helping to relieve pain, reduce swelling (oedema), relax muscles, and improve blood circulation.
Therapists can adjust treatment settings such as frequency (ranging from 5 to 300 Hz), movement direction, speed, and pressure to suit each patient's needs. It is ideal to incorporate into manual lymphatic drainage massage for added effect.
Because only minimal pressure is needed, electrostatic oscillation therapy is suitable for acute pain, soft tissue injuries, and wound care. Additionally, patients can self-administer the therapy using special applicators.

FAQ's
No. Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy and TENS are both forms of electrotherapy, but differ greatly in the way they work, how you use them, and what they treat.
No. Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy and IFT are both forms of electrotherapy, but differ greatly in the way they work, how you use them, and what they treat. If your patient has been sensitive to IFT, it does not mean that they will not tolerate TEO.
Not at all. Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy is best applied using light touch, it is non-invasive and very gentle. One of its key benefits is that it can reach deep tissue layers without causing pain or trauma, making it suitable even for acute injuries or highly sensitive patients.
Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy must not be used on patients with cardiac pacemakers or other electronic implants. These are Contraindications to use.
Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy can be used safely over metal internal fixations or implants such as screws, plates and prostheses. Unlike other electrotherapy modalities, it does not produce heat within the body region being treated. Therefore, Electrostatic Oscillation Therapy does not pose a risk of causing harm or discomfort to a person with metal implants or fixations.
Not necessarily. People differ with regard to their sensitivity to electrostatic fields. The intensity setting should be selected based on the patient’s individual response to electrostatic oscillation therapy treatment. It’s important to tailor treatment to the specific condition and patient tolerance.
Some patients do experience relief after the first session, especially in cases of acute swelling or muscle tension. However, Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy often works best as part of a treatment plan over multiple sessions, especially for chronic or complex conditions.
No. Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy does not produce heat.
Yes. Electrostatic (Deep) Oscillation Therapy requires the use of vinyl gloves for the glove treatment method. Latex gloves will not work.
Vinyl gloves are made from a synthetic material PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and are safe to use if you have a latex allergy.
Most modern baby powders (including the one Medi-Rent provides in the kit) have replaced “talc” with cornstarch, a natural starch derived from corn. Cornstarch-based powders are considered safer because they do not carry the carcinogenic risk associated with potential asbestos contamination of talc.
Troubleshooting
Checklist:
- Are the leads secure at the connection points?
- You need to press the connections firmly to secure them into place.
- Is the OUTPUT VOLTAGE greater than 0%?
- The output voltage is the power intensity, if it is set to 0% the device will not deliver power through the leads.
- Is the countdown timer running?
- To start treatment, press the play/pause button. You should see the countdown timer running
- Are you moving?
- The device works by enhancing the electrostatic field generated through friction. You must move the applicator handle/gloved hands over the treatment area for it to work
The skin needs to be dry for the therapy to work. Ensure the skin is clean and apply baby powder to dry up any moisture.
